Armenia and Kyrgyzstan aim to boost trade turnover and strengthen economic ties, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated following his meeting with the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister, the foreign ministry said.
"Honorable Minister, dear friend and colleague,
I am glad to welcome You and Your delegation in Yerevan. I am confident that this visit is an excellent opportunity to discuss all issues of the bilateral agenda, outline, define and deepen our relations in various spheres, and, of course, touch upon, analyze and share the latest events and perceptions of the international and regional agendas.
Distinguished attendees, during today's discussions, we have touched upon bilateral relations with the honorable Minister Kulubaev. I must note our readiness to significantly deepen our relations in several areas we have identified. Our political dialogue has always been at a sufficiently high level. Traditionally, our contacts have mainly taken place on multilateral platforms, and, of course, from this perspective, this bilateral visit is very important.
I want to inform you that Minister Kulubaev has invited me to visit Kyrgyzstan, and I gladly accept the invitation, and we will organize the visit in the near future. We also have plans for mutual high-level visits. Among other initiatives, the Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan for 2025-2026, signed today, will contribute to deepening our relations.
In our bilateral relations, as in any bilateral relations, economic relations and trade turnover, of course, play a significant role. Here we must admit that the potential of trade turnover is in reality much larger than what is currently happening, and we have plans both to increase trade volumes and deepen economic ties, and to learn from each other, to use each other's economic successes, which, of course, in the case of Kyrgyzstan over the past year have been very impressive. Armenia is, of course, ready to share its capabilities, including some steps in innovative technologies and the digital agenda.
Regarding economic cooperation, new logistic projects can play a significant role and substantially change the situation. Like the whole world, both Kyrgyzstan and Armenia are making new efforts to become part of large logistic networks. In this sense, our Government’s project "Crossroads of Peace" , which I presented to my colleague, is very important, notable and interesting. We hope that in the near future these and other projects will be able to become a reality and create new opportunities for countries, entrepreneurs, businesses and ordinary people.
I want to especially highlight the TUMO center, which has attracted interest from many countries, capitals and cities, as well as from the corresponding agency of Kyrgyzstan.
I presented to my colleague our regional issues, recent developments in the processes of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and, why not, between Armenia and Türkiye.
I am confident that this visit will help change, if not the quality, then at least the intensity of our relations, and once again thank you for this visit,'' reads the statement.
