Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan has expressed concern about the aggressive statements made by Azerbaijan targeting Armenia.
“Besides, we see intensive military exercises conducted [in Azerbaijan,] intensive flights from other countries that are most likely transporting military equipment to Baku. But I’d like to note that we’ve been working over the past few years in various directions to create stability in the region as much as possible, the EU monitoring mission in Armenia, which we hope will be extended soon, Armenia joining the Rome Statute, which we think is an important tool in terms of stability, the ongoing military reforms in Armenia. These are certain factors for stability, and we take all of this into account jointly,” Grigoryan told reporters.
On January 8, Azeri leader Ilham Aliyev falsely accused Armenia of being a fascist state and threatened to destroy it. He went on to threaten to open an extraterritorial corridor through Armenia.
