Peace in the region is not conditioned solely by Armenia and Azerbaijan, says Defense Minister

According to Armenia's Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, peace in the South Caucasus is not solely dependent on Armenia and its neighboring Azerbaijan.

Papikyan made these remarks during a press conference on Wednesday, assessing the current security situation in Armenia and addressed the possibility of military aggression by Azerbaijan.

"I am not responding to aggressive statements because every act of aggression requires grounds, and there are no such grounds. Armenia is advancing a narrative of establishing regional peace, and these narratives and proposals are well-founded," Papikyan stated, reiterating that there is no basis for escalating tensions in the region.

The Minister emphasized that the security of the region, as well as Armenia's security, is not conditioned solely by Armenia and one of its neighbors but the entire region.

"Of course, the region is facing challenging times, but I believe that the existing issues can be resolved through negotiations," Papikyan noted.
