YEREVAN, DECEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS. On December 19, the 49th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Organization took place within the framework of Armenia's Chairmanship-in-Office. The meeting was held online.
According to the foreign ministry of Armenia, at the beginning of the meeting, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, as Chair-in-Office, delivered a video message.
Mirzoyan noted that under the slogan of the Armenian Chairmanship-in-Office, the triad of “Engagement, Outreach, Resilience”, they have done the utmost to emphasize the importance of the effective realization of the core BSEC statutory objectives.
The achievements recorded during Armenia's presidency, as well as the country’s proposals and potential further steps aimed at increasing the organization's efficiency, were discussed.
In his speech, Minister Mirzoyan also addressed the challenges facing the BSEC region and the importance of improving economic connectivity amid the fragile geopolitical situation. Regarding the latter, Armenia's position on unblocking communication routes in the region, based on full respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the principles of equality and reciprocity, was emphasized.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Vahan Kostanyan.
During the meeting of the Council of Ministers, decisions and resolutions were adopted, including the 2025 budget, amendments to the organization’s staff regulations, and decisions regarding the new Development Fund project.
In conclusion, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan expressed gratitude to the representatives of the member states and the BSEC International Permanent Secretariat for their assistance and willingness to cooperate with Armenia during its chairmanship.
