François Bayrou appointed new French prime minister

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS. French President Emmanuel Macron appointed François Bayrou as prime minister on Friday, December 13, over a week after lawmakers voted to oust conservative ex-prime minister Michel Barnier, Le Monde reported.

Bayrou, 73, is the leader of the centrist MoDem party and a political heavyweight from south-western France who calls himself a “man of the countryside”.
