YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS. The Iranian side hopes that the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace project will be a success and will contribute to prosperity and peace in the region, as well as stronger Armenian-Iranian ties, a leading Iranian academic has said.

“The Iranian side hopes that the Crossroads of Peace initiative presented by Armenia will have success and will contribute to having a prosperous and peaceful region and especially the strengthening of the Armenian-Iranian ties,” Mahmoud Jafari Dehaghi, a lecturer at the Literature Faculty at Tehran State University and Director of the Center of Iranian Studies told Armenpress.

“The roots of our relations go into the depths of millennia, even cuneiform manuscripts from the Achaemenid period attest to the friendship of the two peoples. The good-neighborly relations continued during the Sassanian rule, and then in the era of Islam. These ties have maintained their stable course to this day and have further developed. The ties are strong, because our peoples have many cultural similarities,” Dehaghi said.

He said the relations in his area of expertise are also excellent. Joint projects have been carried out with the Iranian Studies department of the Yerevan State University, including conferences, roundtable discussions aimed at the development of educational-cultural sector.

Mahmoud Jafari Dehaghi will deliver a report at an upcoming Armenian-Iranian seminar in Armenia. His report pertains to renowned Armenian literary scholars who studied Iran and the Iranian language.
