YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has attended the Path to Social Justice: Decent Work international conference in Yerevan where he delivered remarks.

In his speech the PM highlighted the need to ensure access to education for everyone in order to make social justice possible.

He said the conference is about one of the most important topics in the modern world.

“Social justice is of extreme importance for every government and society,” the PM said. “This is a topic that has the most various layers, but I’d like to share my thoughts regarding perhaps the most fundamental factor of social justice, which also gives an answer to the question on what has to be done, what conditions must be ensured to make social justice possible. Social justice requires ensuring access to education for everyone, because it is difficult to imagine social justice without fair access to education.”

Pashinyan highlighted that education must be perceived in a broader context, because in this case the most important component is the entirety of skills and capabilities for managing one’s own life, the cornerstone of which is the quality of, and access to, public education.

“Unfortunately, just like elsewhere around the world, we have problems in this sector too, when education or quality education is not equally accessible for all, and this is one of the most important problems that the government is trying to resolve,” Pashinyan said, noting his administration’s program on building 500 kindergartens and 300 schools, as well as the Academic City.

Pashinyan welcomed the conference and said that the issues of its focus are among the Armenian government’s priorities.

The attendees at the forum included, among others, Saudi Prince Abdul Aziz bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, the Chairman of Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND), Chairman of Arab Open University (AOU), Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD), and Center of Arab Woman for Training and Research (CAWTAR).
