Last remaining deficiency behind EU aviation blacklist to be eliminated this year

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. So far Armenia has eliminated 40 of the 41 deficiencies that were the reason for EU’s aviation body blacklisting it, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan has said.

He said the last deficiency, which pertains to the low number of inspectors and specialists, will be eliminated in December 2024.

“A part of the lack has been filled, and several other specialists are now in the phase of training, which will be completed in mid-December,” he said.

He said Armenia applied to the EU aviation authority in October to begin the process of lifting the ban.

A videoconference with European partners is scheduled for November 13 to outline a roadmap for the process.

“I really hope that we have eliminated the problems, also taking into account that the ICAO audit was held in Armenia this year, which is a highly ranked international body. The results of the audit showed that we have eliminated numerous deficiencies,” Sanosyan said.

European experts will visit Armenia in the future to conduct studies, he said.
