YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan and Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan discussed the development of health tourism in Armenia during an open discussion.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Health, the open discussion was organized by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy.
"The professional potential and achievements that Armenia has in the field of medicine should be exported as intellectual capital in the form of medical tourism," underscored the Health Minister, noting that while Armenia is still far from the desired results, it has great potential and it is time to move forward.
The Economy Minister highlighted that, in addition to health tourism’s contribution to a country's prestige, it is also a highly profitable sector. The Minister expressed readiness to develop specific sub-programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
As a result of the significant achievements of the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, not only Armenians but also citizens from African countries and England come to Armenia for treatment of hematological and oncological diseases.
Ophthalmology, dentistry, and aesthetic medicine are the main areas for which people come to Armenia to receive treatment.
