Former lawmaker Mikayel Melkumyan faces asset forfeiture

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 29, ARMENPRESS. Prosecutors have filed a motion to the anti-corruption court seeking to confiscate a number of assets belonging to Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mikayel Melkumyan that are deemed to have been acquired illegally.
The general prosecution said on Tuesday that the motion was lodged in the court on October 24 and proceedings were launched.
Prosecutors at the stolen asset recovery division, known officially as the Department of Confiscation of Assets of Illicit Origin, seek to confiscate 15 real estate properties, 2 vehicles, shares in one company and approximately 315 million drams which are owned by Melkumyan and his affiliates, according to the general prosecution.
