3rd South Caucasus Regional Cooperation Platform meeting to conclude with joint declaration – TRT

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 18, ARMENPRESS. Foreign ministers participating in the upcoming third meeting of the South Caucasus Regional Cooperation Platform, originally called 3+3 platform, are expected to adopt a joint declaration, according to the Turkish TRT.

The meeting, which will be attended by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and his counterparts from Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkiye, will be held in Istanbul.

The idea of the 3+3 platform for regional cooperation was brought forward by Turkiye and Azerbaijan after the 2020 Nagorno Karabakh war and was supposed to include Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Iran, however Georgia repeatedly refused to participate. It is still, however, referred to as the 3+3 platform.

According to TRT, the joint declaration after the October 18 meeting will stress the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue, respecting sovereignty, and fostering regional economic collaboration, especially in transportation and connectivity.

The meeting aims to build trust through economic cooperation, particularly in areas of connectivity and economic integration, according to TRT. Additionally, bilateral meetings between the foreign ministers and a formal reception by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the visiting ministers are planned.
