YEREVAN, OCTOBER 16, ARMENPRESS. The United States never tied the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to COP29 which is due to take place in Baku, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller has said.
“We never tied the agreement to COP. We wanted to see a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan months ago and have been pushing for a peace agreement, ultimately hoped to get one over the line. But that’s up to the two parties, not the United States,” Miller said at a press briefing when asked to comment on Azerbaijan refusing to sign a peace treaty with Armenia before the COP29 in Baku in November.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has numerously offered Azerbaijan to sign a peace treaty with all the articles that have been agreed upon so far and leave the few unresolved points for further discussions. Azerbaijan has rejected the offer.
