YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS. Mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Ed Gainey proclaimed September 21 of 2024 as Armenia National Day on the occasion of the Armenian Independence Day.
The proclamation says that the Republic of Armenia has demonstrated a commitment to democratic values, human rights and the rule of law, and has been recognized by other democratic nations, including the United States.
“Armenians in Pittsburgh and around the world have made significant contributions to the cultural, economic and social fabric of their communities while preserving their unique heritage traditions and the Armenian people have shown resilience and strength in the face of adversity, including the Armenian Genocide of 1915, and have continued to thrive and contribute to the global community,” reads an excerpt from the proclamation.
Mayor Ed Gainey, proclaiming Armenia National Day, encouraged citizens to recognize the rich history, cultural heritage and contributions of the Armenian community.
