YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS. Member of the European Parliament Miriam Lexmann stated in a post on X that ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh was made possible due to the world’s shameful silence.
“It’s one year since the ethnic cleansing of Nagorno Karabakh, enabled by our shameful silence. We can’t forget this tragedy and must continue to insist on accountability for the perpetrators, support for the victims, and protection of Armenian cultural and religious heritage in NK,” posted the MEP.
Lexmann also responded to a post by Vagif Sadikov, head of the Azerbaijani mission to the European Union, who had written on X, "Don't worry, you have been 'shamefully silent' about many other things as well."
“Dear Ambassador, you should know that I spoke out against the suffering President Aliyev’s regime caused to the remaining Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh, but I also spoke vocally about the gross human rights violations of his regime in Azerbaijan,’’ Lexmann replied.
