Presentation of Armenia’s tourism and investment guideline: Prime Minister believes it will boost tourism development

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the ceremony for the presentation and handover of the tourism and investment guide of Armenia in Yerevan. The guide was developed in cooperation with the Tourism Committee of the Armenian Ministry of Economy, the Investment Support Center, and the World Tourism Organization.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the event was attended by Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, the Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili, as well as members of the government, parliamentarians, and representatives of the tourism sector.

In his speech, the Prime Minister thanked the UN World Tourism Organization for issuing the investment guide and noted that it will contribute to the development of tourism in Armenia. According to Pashinyan, tourism is both an expression of well-being and a source of well-being, as those who have the opportunity prefer to spend money on travel.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of a modern person considering their spending priorities, just as the government does when deliberating its own.

"In my opinion, one of those priorities is, of course, education, which is fundamental, as well as tourism, given its significant cultural component," said the Prime Minister.

According to the source, the PM noted that leading an active life helps reduce health-related expenses. The Prime Minister believes these are the areas that should be encouraged, and perhaps even introduced or offered to future generations through education. Pashinyan emphasized that tourism in Armenia is already creating many jobs and providing opportunities to showcase business skills.

"Armenia is not a large country, but when you start traveling, you discover that it has unique places. Tourism is important for recognizing not only your own country but also the world.

Of course, tourism is perhaps the most unifying sector of the economy and human relations, providing a broad opportunity to connect with countries, people, traditions, and ultimately, our shared roots. We are confident that this guideline, developed in cooperation with our partners and the Government of the Republic of Armenia, will give a new impetus to the development of the sector,"  Pashinyan said.

"We will have an internationally validated document in the field of tourism,  which will be an additional argument for us to substantiate that there are proper investment conditions and directions in Armenia, particularly in the field of tourism, to invest, develop, become rich and enrich," said the Prime Minister. He expressed confidence that these joint efforts will provide an additional boost to the ongoing developments and investments in Armenia’s tourism sector.

Following the Prime Minister's remarks, Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili handed over the tourism and investment guideline of Armenia to Prime Minister Pashinyan.
