YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has delivered opening remarks at the Tenth Inter-Parliamentary Union Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Yerevan.
In his speech, Pashinyan attached importance to ensuring youth’s engagement in politics.
“Young people entering politics and youth activity is very important and understandable, but frankly speaking I have a conceptual question regarding the term young parliamentarian. In my perception a parliamentarian is a parliamentarian, young, middle aged or old, they have the same mandate and equal powers,” the prime minister said.
PM Pashinyan attached importance to education. He said that one of the hidden reasons behind poverty is the lack of proper education.
“There’s no problem that can’t be solved through education. And there’s no problem that didn’t originate due to the lack of education, or low quality education,” Pashinyan said.
“Over the course of the history of mankind there’ve been professions that disappeared and new ones have emerged. One of the biggest problems in the education sector is to ensure the adaptation of people to these global changes, including in the job market,” Pashinyan said.
Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan also delivered remarks.
“I am proud to say that after the 2018 velvet, non-violent, people’s revolution young parliamentarians are the majority in the Armenian parliament today,” Simonyan said.
“You have big potential to change the world because you are more flexible and courageous than the previous generations.”
