YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. The number of inbound tourists in the first half of 2024 has dropped 6,1% compared to the same period of the previous year, finance minister Vahe Hovhannisyan told lawmakers at a committee meeting.
“6,1% decrease in the number of tourists visiting Armenia has been recorded compared to the same period of the previous year,” he said at a budget performance session. “This is mostly due to the 23,6% decrease in the number of tourists from Russia. Instead, we have an increase in the number of tourists from Georgia, Iran and India.”
Despite the decrease, the figure is still significantly higher compared to 2019.
