Rescuers dispatched across Yerevan amid overnight heavy rainfalls

YEREVAN, AUGUST 31, ARMENPRESS. Yerevan rescuers and police officers worked overnight across the city to deal with the consequences of heavy rainfalls. 

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said a total of 670 calls were made to the crisis management center in between 23:34, August 30 and 02:46 August 31 in relation to the heavy rainfalls (short circuit of electric wires, blocked water draining systems and waterlogging.) No injuries were reported.  

Rescuers used special equipment to drain a total of 276 tons of water in 4 different locations. 

55 vehicles blocked in water were towed. 

Major general Kamo Tsutsulyan, the Director of the Rescue Service and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, personally oversaw and led the efforts involving 22 fire engines, 84 rescuers and special equipment. 

Yerevan police officers were also involved in the efforts.
