BTA. Apollonia Art Festival to Open Thursday Evening

YEREVAN, AUGUST 29, ARMENPRESS/BTA. The formal opening of the 40th edition of the Apollonia Art Festival in Sozopol is scheduled for Thursday evening. The Symphony Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio, conducted by Konstantin Ilievski, will give a concert featuring mezzo-soprano Svetlina Stoyanova and many pop and jazz singers.

President Rumen Radev will visit Sozopol for the opening and will meet with the town's mayor, Tihomir Yanakiev, Radev's press secretariat said. The President will be accompanied by his wife, Desislava Radeva.

Also on Thursday, the Adriana Budevska Drama Theatre of Burgas will perform Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Leenane in memory of the late theatre director, Borislav Chakrinov (1961-2024).

The festival will run until September 7 with more concerts, films, plays, exhibitions and literary events. 

The Apollonia Art Festival is organized by the Apollonia Foundation established in 1991. The festival first took place in 1984. It aims to preserve cultural traditions and support new talent in the arts, said the organizers. BTA is a media partner of the event.
