Canadian Ambassador visits Syunik Province

YEREVAN, AUGUST 16, ARMENPRESS. Canadian Ambassador to Armenia Andrew Turner on August 15 visited the Syunik Province where he met with Governor Robert Ghukasyan.

Ghukasyan thanked the Ambassador for the visit and congratulated him on the opening of the Canadian Embassy in Armenia, the Governor’s Office said in a readout.

Governor Ghukasyan expressed certainty that the opening of the embassy will further strengthen the friendly ties between the two countries and open new prospects for cooperation.

The Ambassador inquired about various issues concerning the province. The Governor presented the structure of Syunik’s economy, the general security situation, development opportunities and other issues.

Ambassador Turner attached importance to becoming acquainted with provinces across Armenia and highlighted cooperation. He noted that Syunik is unique with its geopolitical location and role.

The Ambassador expressed readiness to work in the direction of developing business ties between Canadian investors and Syunik businesses.

Other sectors of cooperation were also discussed and both sides will work in those directions as well.

Ghukasyan then accompanied the Ambassador to the Kapan airport, where he became acquainted with its work. Ambassador Turner then visited the Kapan Geological Museum.
