Ucom, in cooperation with SunChild NGO, installs solar panels in Tsaghkavan

YEREVAN, AUGUST 6, ARMENPRESS. As a result of the cooperation between SunChild NGO and Ucom, solar panels with an installed capacity of 11.02 kW have been installed on the roofs of the kindergarten in Tsaghkavan village, Berd community in the Tavush region.

The energy generated from these panels will cover the entire electricity costs of the kindergarten and reduce heating expenses, allowing the kindergarten to allocate the savings to other essential needs.

Reducing the operational costs of kindergartens is crucial because community funds often fall short of providing the best conditions for children. As community representatives have mentioned, investments like this significantly ease the financial burden.

“This is not the first solar power plant we’ve installed in regional communities in collaboration with SunChild NGO. Each project brings us immense happiness because we see the positive impact on people’s quality of life. This initiative benefits both the environment and the community budget. By saving on electricity costs, residents can address more pressing issues. This is Ucom’s way of caring for the people in the regions,” mentioned Ralph Yirikian, Director General of Ucom.

“This cooperation between SunChild NGO and Ucom provides two fundamental solutions for the community: promoting a sustainable lifestyle for environmental conservation and fostering community development. This program also demonstrates how indigenous solutions can be economically beneficial, setting a valuable example for the further development of the community,” said Sona Kalantaryan, director of Sunchild NGO.

“I want to thank Ucom and SunChild NGO for installing these solar panels at our kindergarten. These panels have been a tremendous help to our community. Heating is a luxury nowadays, and we’ve already agreed with our community leader to use the savings to renovate the area around the kindergarten. There were no solar panels in Tsaghkavan before this, and I hope this sets a great example for the villagers, encouraging them to adopt these excellent solutions for their homes,” said Iskandar Mehrabyan, the administrative head of Tsaghkavan settlement of Berd community.

This marks the second solar power plant installed this year under the new stage of cooperation between Ucom and SunChild NGO.
