Ambassador Mariam Gevorgyan visits Republica de Armenia school in Uruguay’s Salto

YEREVAN, JULY 29, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Ambassador to Uruguay Mariam Gevorgyan has visited the Republica de Armenia (Republic of Armenia) #16 public school in Salto Department. 

Gevorgyan was accompanied by Hector Goni, the Director of International Relations and Cooperation at the National Administration of Public Education, and Aldo Rodriguez, the administration’s head of language policy. 

The Armenian Ambassador was greeted by Principal Andrea Rolfo and the teachers. Gevorgyan toured the school and became acquainted with the educational process and conditions, the embassy said in a press release. 

The Armenian language is taught at the school since 2023 through Luys Yev Armen, a textbook published through the joint efforts of the Uruguay National Administration of Public Education and the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU). During the visit the sides attached importance to the promotion of Armenian language and culture in the school and highlighted the Armenian language classes. 

“The school students organized a festive event on the occasion of the Armenian Ambassador’s visit and greeted her in Armenian language and performed Armenian songs. Expressing readiness to maximally support the school’s activities, Ambassador Gevorgyan gifted the students puzzles with pictures of Armenian sights and invited them to visit the Armenian embassy,” the embassy said in the press release.
