Health Ministers of Armenia and Georgia hold meeting

YEREVAN, JULY 18, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan is on a working visit to Tbilisi at the invitation of her colleague, Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Sarjveladze.

According to the readout issued by the Ministry of of Health, during the meeting the ministers discussed various issues related to the healthcare sector, common problems, for the solution of which the importance of closer cooperation between the relevant departments of the two countries and timely response to existing challenges was noted.

The parties touched upon deepening cooperation and opportunities for exchanging experiences, and the idea of ​​creating platforms for professional groups.

The Minister also presented the latest reforms in the field of electronic healthcare and emphasized the importance of the continuing education component for medical personnel.

The ministers jointly emphasized the need to periodically review the pricing and registration policies of medicines, and implement joint programs with the involvement of global partners, in particular the World Health Organization (WHO).

The discussion of health issues continued during a meeting with the representative of the Georgian Parliament, the Chairman of the Healthcare and Social Affairs Committee, Zaza Lominadze.
