Armenian Minister of Education and Science receives ICPC organizers

YEREVAN, JULY 17, ARMENPRESS. The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, received a delegation headed by the President of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Fund, William Poucher, reported the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.

The government of the Republic of Armenia has submitted an application to host the "World Final ICPC 2025" in Armenia. Minister Andreasyan welcomed the guests and expressed excitement about the opportunity to host the ICPC World Finals 2025 in Yerevan.

She thanked them for their willingness to cooperate and emphasized that hosting the competition is not only significant in itself but also serves as a solid foundation for establishing partnerships and fostering further cooperation.

According to the source, the minister emphasized that the development of information technologies in Armenia is a priority, and organizing such an event is a logical continuation of the strategic directions in that field.

Highlighting advancements in technological education, the minister mentioned educational programs that have garnered interest internationally. During her presentation, she specifically highlighted the informal educational programs offered by the "Tumo" center, which significantly enhance children's technological education possibilities and creativity.

The minister also introduced the Armath robotics and engineering laboratories implemented in schools across Armenia. Additionally, she underscored the educational program "Generation of Artificial Intelligence (AI)," which commenced in September 2023 in 15 high schools.

ICPC Foundation President William Poucher expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and Armenia's interest in hosting the prestigious contest. He highlighted that the competition encourages students to develop programming and problem-solving skills, teamwork abilities, and provides opportunities to engage with international partners.

According to him, participating in the ICPC competition is a significant honor and achievement for many students aspiring to advance their careers in information technology. William Poucher also praised Armenia's efforts in reforming the education system.
