Thanks to the photos, we see the history of Armenia: Indian Ambassador to Armenia visits Armenpress exhibition

YEREVAN, JULY 2, ARMENPRESS.  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, accompanied by Narine Nazaryan, Director of Armenpress state news agency, visited the agency's "Documenting the Century" exhibition, opened at the Artists' Union of Armenia. Nazaryan introduced Nilakshi Saha Sinha to more than 90 photographs included in the exhibition, covering the years 1950 to 1990.

"Thanks to these photos, we witness the history of Armenia, shaped over many years, and we see renowned individuals. Today, many monuments, streets, and avenues bear the names of these individuals. Viewing their photographs from that era is truly delightful. Armenpress has done a commendable job, and I hope that the agency will continue to present such exhibitions," said Nilakshi Saha Sinha.

Due to the exclusive archival photos featured in the "Documenting the Century" exhibition, visitors can delve into history and meet prominent artists, athletes, political and military figures, and scientists, while recalling significant events for the country and the world, including the history of constructing and restoring historical and cultural monuments.

The exhibition, which last year was open for just one day to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the agency's founding, has opened on June 27 at the Artists Union of Armenia in the heart of Yerevan.

"More than ninety photos presented prove that Armenpress' camera missed nothing: these photos bring to life the events we have always heard and read about, with each of us forming our own ideas about these events. Today's exhibition gives us the opportunity to mentally transport ourselves to those times and acquaint ourselves with real history.

Armenpress has over one million photos. The digital age enables us to immediately store several tens of photo materials daily in our photo archives, with correct captions, with proper tagging. However, we have hundreds of thousands of tapes waiting for digitization in our archives, the study of which provides us with rich material for thematic exhibitions," said the agency director Nazaryan.

"The Documentary of the Century" exhibition will be open until July 4th.
