Germany increases humanitarian support for Nagorno-Karabakh, works to send monitors as soon as possible

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. Germany is increasing its 2-million-euro humanitarian assistance for Nagorno-Karabakh through the ICRC to 5 million, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has said.

In a statement on X, the German FM said that thousands of women, children and men are so frightened in Nagorno-Karabakh for their lives that they see no other choice than to leave and cross into Armenia.

“Their number is growing hour by hour. No one actually knows the condition of people in Nagorno-Karabakh. Now we need transparency and the eyes and ears of the international community on the ground. We will work with our partners in the direction of sending monitors as soon as possible. A proof of Azerbaijan seriously treating its promises of security and well-being of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh would be Azerbaijan allowing the presence of international monitors. There are shortages of everything. Aid should be supplied to the people along Lachin Corridor reliably and constantly, and not partially. I have decided to increase our humanitarian support through the ICRC from 2 to 5 million euros,” the German FM said.
