Renovated Margara border crossing point ready for service

YEREVAN, AUGUST 1, ARMENPRESS. The Margara border crossing point on the Armenian-Turkish border is ready to serve citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders, State Revenue Committee Chairman Rustam Badasyan has said.

“The Margara checkpoint has long been ready to serve citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders,” Badasyan said at a press briefing.

Asked when the checkpoint will be opened, he said, “I don’t know. There must be a political decision.”

In 2022, Armenia and Turkiye agreed to open the land border for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders. After reaching the agreement, Armenia started renovating the Margara checkpoint on its side. The renovation has since been completed. The agreement, however, is yet to be implemented.

Turkiye unilaterally closed its border with Armenia in the early 1990s.
