Armenian Foreign Minister speaks by phone with Iranian counterpart, South Caucasus security discussed

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on September 13 spoke by phone with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the foreign ministry announced Thursday.

As a follow-up to the recent phone talk between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, the foreign ministers discussed issues related to stability and security in the South Caucasus, the foreign ministry said in a readout.

Speaking about the latest developments in the region, FM Mirzoyan noted the importance of the efforts and statements by partners aimed at restraining the escalation of situation on the border with Armenia and returning Azerbaijan to a constructive framework. The need for addressing the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh was underscored in the context of achieving lasting stability in the region.

Issues concerning bilateral relations were also discussed. Both sides reaffirmed readiness to continue the dialogue in various platforms and formats.
