President Vahagn Khachaturyan visits Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Berlin

YEREVAN, JUNE 20, ARMENPRESS. President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan has visited the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Berlin.

Welcoming the President of the Republic of Armenia, Chairperson of the Foundation Karl-Heinz Paqué expressed his gratitude for the visit and highlighted that the Foundation has implemented many important projects in Armenia over the years, the president's office said in a press release.

The President thanked for the warm reception and addressed the long-term activities of the Foundation highlighting its role in the spread of democracy and democratic ideas in Armenia and generally in the South Caucasus.

During the discussion, the sides touched upon the general regional developments, reforms implemented in the establishment of democratic institutions in Armenia and pathways to address the existing challenges. The President also emphasized that sustainable peace is one of the key prerequisites for the formation and strengthening of democratic systems which is one of the ultimate goals pursued by the Foundation.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that he personally along with many young political figures in Armenia closely cooperated with the Foundation which had a positive effect on the spread of liberal ideas.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan underscored that he is in full support of the initiatives promoting the establishment and development of democratic institutions in Armenia.

The President also expressed hope that the Naumann Foundation will set its traditional activities in motion in the South Caucasus region in the near future serving as an additional impetus for strengthening democracy and democratic institutions and establishing peace.
