Two Syrian-Armenians in Aleppo among those killed in earthquake

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 6, ARMENPRESS. Two Syrian-Armenians in Aleppo are among the victims of the deadly earthquake which hit Turkey’s Kahramanmaraş Province near the Syrian border.

Syrian Member of Parliament Zhirair Reisian told ARMENPRESS that the Syrian-Armenians who were killed in Aleppo are a mother and son – Mirna and Alper Tenekejean. Alper Tenekejean was a student at the Aleppo AGBU Lazal Najarian-Gulbenkian school.

Around 35 buildings were destroyed in the city.

The death toll in Syria in the powerful earthquake which hit Turkey near the Syrian border reached 237, and another 639 people are injured, RIA Novosti reported earlier citing the Syrian Ministry of Healthcare.
