Persons with classified information clearance to be required to notify authorities upon leaving country

YEREVAN, JANUARY 17, ARMENPRESS. Parliament adopted at first reading the bill on amending the Law on State Secret whereby persons having security clearance of accessing classified and top secret information will be required to notify the National Security Service upon leaving the country on private visits.
The bill was adopted with 69 votes in favor. 32 MPs voted against and 1 voted present.
The law will also specify the definition of the terms regulating the classified information, NSS Deputy Director Tigran Harutyunyan told lawmakers earlier on January 16.
Furthermore, the bill also sets stricter criminal accountability for the disclosure of classified information constituting state secret without authorization.
