Armenia Parliament Speaker receives Polish Senator

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan received todayChairman of the Polish Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and European Union, Bogdan Klich, the Parliament’s press service said.

In his remarks Speaker Alen Simonyan said that this year marks the 655th anniversary of the official formation of the Armenian community of Poland. He added that Armenia highly appreciates and is grateful for the warm attitude and care that the Armenian people have felt in Poland.

At the meeting the sides highlighted the importance of intensifying the inter-parliamentary cooperation, agreeing on the necessity to enrich the agenda issues.

The Speaker of Parliament also touched upon the latest large-scale aggression of Azerbaijan against Armenia’s sovereign territory and the consequences of that aggression. In this context the EU’s decision to send 40 civilian monitors to Armenia’s borders was emphasized.

The transit visa requirement for the citizens of Armenia in the airports of Poland, which took effect on August 1, 2022, was also touched upon. Alen Simonyan called it concerning, adding that it contradicts to the visa liberalization idea, by creating additional obstacles for the free movement of the citizens of Armenia. He expressed hope that the decision will be revised.
