EU technical assessment mission delegation visits Vardenis communities affected by Azeri aggression

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 19, ARMENPRESS. The delegation of the EU technical assessment mission visited the border settlements of Vardenis. The delegation was accompanied by Armenian Armed Forces 2nd Army Corps Commander Colonel Vahram Grigoryan and Governor of Gegharkunik Karen Sargsyan.
“On October 18, together with Armenian Armed Forces 2nd Army Corps Commander Colonel Vahram Grigoryan and Vardenis Mayor Aharon Khachatryan we accompanied the EU technical assessment mission to Vardenis municipality, to the border zones of the Tretuk and Kutakan settlements which were affected in the 2022 Azerbaijani aggression. I comprehensively presented the information on the 12 settlements in the Vardenis and Tchambarak consolidated communities that were affected as a result of the enemy aggression, from which the Sotk and Kut settlements suffered the heaviest damages. 148 buildings-structures were damaged in Sotk, 12 apartments in Kut, 2 apartments in Verin Shorzha. We have two damaged schools, one kindergarten, administrative buildings of settlements, a library and a medical facility. We have 8 apartments affected from bombardments that require reconstruction. Other civilian infrastructure was also damaged, and implementing farming work has become around 40% risky,” the governor said in a statement.
Colonel Grigoryan briefed the EU mission on the aftermath of the 12 May 2021 and 13 September 2022 Azerbaijani military aggression against Armenia.
Observations were conducted using measurement devices.
The EU mission members said they will conduct in-depth studies and will regularly present reports.
The Armenian side assured that it will provide constant support to the observation work and will actively cooperate.
