Armenian PM, EBRD President discuss cooperation

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)Odile Renaud-Basso.

The Prime Minister attached importance to the close and effective cooperation developed between the Armenian Government and the EBRD as a result of which numerous projects are being implemented in various sectors, the prime minister’s office said.

The Armenian PM noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of bilateral cooperation and that during this period the cooperation has further developed and strengthened.

According to the PM, this partnership contributed to the stability of the Armenian economy, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.

PM Pashinyan said that the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia, also in the economy, are implemented successfully, which resulted in Armenia improving its position in the global economic freedom index to 11th position.

The PM expressed conviction that this will contribute to further economic activity and development in the country.

The EBRD President also praised partnership with the Armenian government and added that the joint projects are continuously expanding. She attached importance to implementation of projects in infrastructure development, road construction, private sector and other directions and said that the EBRD stands ready to enhance bilateral partnership.

Various issues relating to further cooperation were discussed.
