No need to declare martial law at this moment - Armenian PM

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. At this moment, there is no need to declare a martial law in Armenia over the Azerbaijani attack, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during the Q&A session in the Parliament.

“The draft on declaring a martial law in Armenia is on my table since midnight, the day before. We are regularly assessing the situation within the Security Council and other formats, as well as the necessity of making such a decision. As long as we have not adopted that decision, it means that we find that there is no need for that, not because there is no aggression, but because it’s a very serious decision which has a number of mechanisms which are not of military nature only”, he said.

He stated that it is necessary to assess the efficiency of the decisions being made, by taking into account Armenia’s experience in several episodes. “Of course, that issue is on the agenda. The situation is being assessed several times a day and a decision is being made accordingly”, he added.
