YEREVAN, AUGUST 25, ARMENPRESS. His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, has sent a letter of support to Mir Tahsin Beg Saied, the temporal leader of the Yazidi community of the world, which was conveyed to him by His Grace Archbishop Avak Asaturian, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Iraq. The Information System of the Holy See informed “Armenpress”, that the message in particular runs as follows:

“From the spiritual centre of All Armenians Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, we extend our condolences to You on the ongoing mass killings of the Yazidi population in Iraq. We are deeply concerned about the inhuman violence and the resultant numerous victims in the Northern part of Iraq.”

Strongly condemning the massacres and violence against the Yazidi people, the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed confidence that the Yazidi people, which has age-old history, will endure and surmount this challenge it has to face with. Karekin II also called on the international community and organizations to take immediate steps to stop the Yazidis’ massacres in Iraq.
