No obstacles for Armenia’s accession to Customs Union: Armenia’s PM

YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS. There is no obstacle, which can prevent Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan stated this addressing the participants of the second economic conference titled “Armenia-Customs Union: Opportunities and Challenges”. The conference is organized by the Republican Party of Armenia. Tigran Sargsyan stated that a huge work has been carried out after September 3 of the previous year and there are several issues the sides have to solve.

As reports “Armenpress”, among other things, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan emphasized that the negotiations regarding the 900 sensitive products for Armenia’s economy have not been over yet. In addition, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan emphasized that a list of products, raw materials, and services, which can be sensitive for Armenia, has been developed in the result of meetings and discussions with the representatives of the private sector. According to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan the aim of the current negotiations is the reduction of risks.

The second economic conference titled “Armenia-Customs Union: Opportunities and Challenges” held by Armenia’s ruling party launched. The conference organized by the Republican Party of Armenia brought together economists, representatives of various political powers, as well as guests from the Eurasian Economic Committee Board.

As reports “Armenpress”, it is considered that reports by the EEC Board Member Tatiana Valovaya, the Chairman of the Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Gagik Harutyunyan, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Davit Sargsyan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan, and others will be introduced to the participants.

In the result of the negotiations on September 3, 2013 in Moscow the Presidents Sargsyan and Putin confirmed the aim of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation in the direction of further development of economic integration processes in the Eurasian territory. In that context the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan announced about the Armenia's decision to join the Customs Union and the necessity of implementation corresponding steps for that aim and in future about participating in formation of the Eurasian economic union.The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin expressed his support to the abovementioned decision of Armenia and informed about the readiness of the Russian side to support the process.
