Armenian President sends condolence letter to Albanian counterpart

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian sent a condolence letter to President of Albania Ilir Meta on the powerful earthquake near the capital city of Tirana which killed and wounded dozens of innocent people, the Armenian President’s Office told Armenpress.

In the letter the Armenian President wished strength and tenacity to the families and relatives of the victims, and a speedy recovery to the injured.

At least 23 people have been killed, several more are missing and hundreds have been injured after an earthquake struck Albania on November 26.

The quake, which had a preliminary rating of 6.4 magnitude, hit the European nation at an approximate depth of 20 kilometers (12 miles) early Tuesday local time, according to the United States Geological Survey. It is the strongest to hit Albania in 40 years, CNN reported.
