YEREVAN, OCTOBER 16, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian hosted Director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London, Professor, Lord Ara Darzi, the Presidential Office told Armenpress.

President Sarkissian and Lord Darzi talked about issues relating to Armenia’s development, technological, educational and healthcare progress, touched upon the use of the latest technologies and innovative solutions, in particular, the elements of artificial intelligence in the aforementioned spheres.

President Sarkissian highlighted the importance of using more effectively the Armenian potential in Armenia and the Diaspora, in particular the experience and skills of highly-qualified specialists for the benefit of the homeland and the people.

Professor Darzi holds the Paul Hamlyn Chair of Surgery at Imperial College London, the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research. He is Director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London and Chair of Imperial College Health Partners. He is an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at Imperial College Hospital NHS Trust.

Research led by Professor Darzi is directed towards achieving best surgical practice through innovation in surgery and enhancing patient safety and the quality of healthcare.
