Merkel to discuss Ukrainian crisis and Syria with Russia’s Putin

YEREVAN, APRIL 28, ARMENPRESS. German Chancellor Angela Merkel plans to discuss the situation in Syria and Ukraine during the upcoming talks with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on May 2, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said at a press briefing in Berlin on April 28, TASS reports.

The spokesman said the reason for the visit to Russia is the preparation for the G20 summit in Hamburg, however, in line with this, ‘problematic topics such as Ukraine and Syria, will be discussed as well’.

According to Seibert, Merkel and Putin plan to hold two round talks.

The spokesman also clarified that Merkel will pay a one-day visit to Russia.
