Armenian parliament Head highlights cooperation with RF in international parliamentary 
assemblies

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS. President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Galust Sahakyan received on November 18 the delegation led by Chairperson of the  Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev.

Greeting the guests, the Head of the parliament hoped that their working visit will further foster inter-parliamentary cooperation. Galust Sahakyan states with satisfaction that the basis of the strategic alliance between Armenia and Russia is not only the existing mutually beneficial cooperation, but also the centuries-old friendship between the two peoples and common spiritual values. In this context Galust Sahakyan stated that Armenian-Russian cooperation is on a high level and continue to develop in an atmosphere of mutual trust evidenced by the frequent high level mutual visits.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of the Armenian National Assembly, the President of the National Assembly of Armenia highlighted the development of inter-parliamentary relations with Russia as a key component of inter-state relations which is greatly fostered by the activities of the inter-parliamentary committee between Armenia and Russia.

In the context of Armenian-Russian allied and strategic partnership, Galust Sahakyan emphasized the importance of cooperating in international parliamentary assemblies.

“I am convinced when discussing or voting on issues of key importance for our states we must act coordinated and on the basis of mutual benefit”, the Head of the parliament said.

The President of the National Assembly of Armenia hoped that the discussions between the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of Armenia and the Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs of Russia scheduled on November 19 will be productive.

Konstantin Kosachev also highlighted the allied relations between Armenia and Russia based on firm friendship. He referred to the coordinated activities of the delegations of the two countries in international parliamentary platforms and highlighted the importance of mutual support. According to Konstantin Kosachev, the meetings between the delegations of both countries in various formats should take place more frequently.

Other issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
