YEREVAN, JUNE 14, ARMENPRESS. The survey results, conducted after a month later of the April four-day war, demonstrate that the majority of Armenian people is confident the Armenian Armed Forces and the NKR Defense Army will be able to counter the Azerbaijani army’s actions in case of repetition, “Armenpress” reports, “Gallup International” Armenia representation conducted a survey on this issue.

In particular, 61.4% of the respondents said they are completely sure that they will counter, 31.3% said they are rather convinced. Only 0.7% said they aren’t completely sure, and 4.8% answered that they are not rather convinced that the Armenian Armed forces will be able to counter the Azerbaijani actions.

To the question “How do you assess the combat readiness and the skills of our Army to counter such a large-scale attack?”, 40.1% of the respondents said the Army is completely ready, 44.3% said it is rather ready, which means that overall 84.4% consider that the Armenian Army is ready to counter the Azerbaijani attack. Only 11.1% think that it is mostly not ready, and 3.3% said it is not ready yet.

From 1-5 point scale, where 1 means the lowest, and 5 the highest score, the survey respondents gave 4.9 point to “citizens’ willingness to support the Army” during the four-day war, 4.9 point was given to “servicemen’s high spirit”, 4.6 point was given to “the military preparedness of servicemen”, and 3.2 point to the “necessary military equipment of the Armenian Defense Army and the NKR Army”.  

The majority of respondents (46.7 %) think that Azerbaijan started the attack by the external dictation, 32.5% says Azerbaijan provokes war in order to restrain, disguise its internal issues. 27.5% think that Azerbaijan, realizing that it fails in the negotiation process, tries to solve the issue through the war.

Considering the external dictation, the majority of respondents (81.3%) say it is guided by Turkey, 17.2% think it is guided by Russia, and 14.5% by the US. However, 33% is convinced that Azerbaijan initiated the military operations.

The survey was conducted on May 13-24 throughout Armenia.

The sample included 1106 people.
