Armenia to demand legal evaluation on Karen Petrosyan’s case from international institutions

Armenia to demand legal evaluation on Karen Petrosyan’s case from international
institutions

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 14, ARMENPRESS: Karen Petrosyan’s body has undergone corresponding forensic examination. After the results are clear, Armenia will take measures to give appropriate assessment to the matter.

“After the forensic examination, Armenia will raise at international institutions the issue on giving legal evaluation to the matter,” said Seyran Ohanyan in answer to Armenpress’ question.

31-year-old Karen Petrosyan, who had been taken hostage and killed the next day by Azerbaijan, was buried on October 13 in his home village Chinari. The head of Chinari community Samvel Saghoyan told Armenpress that the entire village attended the burial ceremony of Petrosyan. He stated that the members of Karen’s family are in severe psychological condition.

Karen Petrosyan, who lived in a borderland village in northeastern Armenia, was taken captive on August 7 after mistakenly appearing in the territory of Azerbaijan. Shocking images of him being dragged by masked soldiers were distributed to the media by authorities in Azerbaijan, in which Karen Petrosyan was being brutally forced to beg pardon from the president of Azerbaijan. The next day, the Defense Ministry announced that he had “suddenly” died of “heart failure.” The circumstances surrounding the death of Karen Petrosyan raise serious doubts as to the cause of the death announced by Azerbaijani authorities. On October 10 the Azerbaijani side handed over the body of Armenian citizen Karen Petrosyan, who was killed in Azerbaijani captivity.
