YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 10, ARMENPRESS. Armenian duduk will sound for the first time within the framework of the 7th international music festival held in frames of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Prominent duduk player Gevorg Dabaghyan will introduce the Armenian national musical instrument. In a conversation with “Armenpress” Gevorg Dabaghyan stated that the offer came from renowned Russian musician and conductor Yuri Bashmet.

Among other things Gevorg Dabaghyan underscored: “I know Bashmet for 5-6 years. We made a performance for the first time in an Italian island; the second one in the Moscow Conservatory, when we introduced works by Vache Sharafyan and Komitas.”

The two musicians constantly keep in touch with each other. Bashmet’s offer to introduce a joint performance at the Olympics was a pleasant surprise for Gevorg Dabaghyan. “The invitation was unexpected for me, but I am very glad for it,” Dabaghyan emphasized.
