YEREVAN, OCTOBER 4, ARMENPRESS. The State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia and the State Ensemble of Soloists will celebrate the 75th birthday anniversary of prominent composer Martun Israelyan on October 9 in the Komitas Chamber Music Hall. The National Centre of Chamber Music informed "Armenpress" that Sofia Sayadyan, Gohar Azizyan, and Garnik Yengibaryan will participate in the upcoming concert. The entrance is free.

Martun Israelyan (b. March 25, 1938, Gyumri) is an Armenian composer of mostly orchestral, chamber and vocal works that have been performed in the Americas and Europe.

Prof. Israelyan studied composition and music theory at a music college in Gyumri in 1964. He studied composition with Grigor Ehiazaryan at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory from 1964--69.

His music has been performed in Argentina, Armenia, the Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Ukraine, the UK, and the USA.

He has taught as Professor of Composition at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory since 1986.

Martun Israelyan turned 75 on March 25 of the current year. President Serzh Sargsyan sent a congratulatory message on 75th birthday anniversary of Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia, composer, professor at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory Martun Israelyan. The message in particular runs:

"You have been living an interesting artistic life, enriching in the process the Armenian classical music. Your contribution to the organization of the musical life in Armenia is significant. You also have great pedagogical accomplishments which have been duly appreciated not only by your students but also by the entire art-loving community.

I wish you good health, happiness and success in your gratifying work."
