YEREVAN, AUGUST 9, ARMENPRESS. The member of women's chess team of Armenia and bronze medal winner of the Individual Chess Championship Lilit Mkrtchyan is satisfied with the results she recorded in the European tournament. In a conversation with "Armenpress" Mkrtchyan emphasized that the European championship has a high ranking and to take any prize in a tournament of this kind can be considered a great success.

Among other things Lilit Mkrtchyan underlined: "Winning the prize in the European Individual Chess Championship enabled me an opportunity to take part in the World Championship as well."

In addition the Armenian chess player reflected upon her future plans and stated that she is departing for China today - on August 9, to take part in the Chinese Club Chess Championship.

Armenian WGM Lilit Mkrtchian took the bronze medal in the 14th European Women's Individual Chess Championship that was held in Belgrade, Serbia.

Lilit Mkrtchian was born on 9 August 1982. She is an Armeniangrandmaster and four-time Armenian Women's chess champion.

Mkrtchian won the silver medal in the European Individual Chess Championship in Varna, Bulgaria, scoring 8½/11 points. She participated in the European Team Chess Championship 2003 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, helping Armenia win the gold medal. She took the bronze medal at the seventh European Individual Championship 2006 held in Kuşadası, Turkey, scoring 7½/11 points.

In December 2009, she took tenth position in the list of best sportspeople of Armenia in 2009.
