Khustup Reserve to be established in Syunik

YEREVAN, AUGUST 7, ARMENPRESS: Khustup Reserve is intended to be established in the nearest future in Syunik Marz. It will be located in four communities of the Marz: Geghanush, Lernadzor, Chakaten and Tsav. As Armenpress was reported by Karen Chenterechyan, the Coordinator of the Armenia’s Protected Areas System Development Program, the Reserve will occupy a territory of about 7000 hectares. In July the project was submitted to the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia.

“The program will be probably implemented next year the latest”, - noted Karen Chenterechyan. The establishment works of the Khustup Reserve will be carried out by the Armenian Office of the World Wildlife Fund and the Program Implementation State Agency of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia. Like all the other state reserves, the borders of Khustup will be protected on the state level.

As Armenpress was reported by the Head of the Department for Mass Media and Public Relations of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia Armen Vardanyan, the Ministry has already discussed the project and will give a final conclusion in the nearest future to submit the project to the Government of Armenia.
