Armenian President receives Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Luis Moreno-Ocampo

YEREVAN, APRIL 6, ARMENPRESS: President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received today Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Luis Moreno-Ocampo who arrived in Armenia to participate in the 37th congress of International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).

Presidential press office told Armenpress that welcoming the guest Serzh Sargsyan said, “The presence of people having rich experience and big participation in the condemnation of crimes against humanity and in human rights protection is very important for us,” and added “especially when recently it is frequently spoken about one of the severest crimes against humanity – the Armenian Genocide.”

Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo noted that their activity is directed toward the human rights protection and their prior goal is the prevention of further genocides.

The president of the republic and the prosecutor discussed also opportunities of cooperation on how the court can help Armenia to be more protected.
