'Myth, fake news', Russia denies reports on Wagner plotting coup d’état in Armenia

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS. Russia has denied rumors generated on social media that some 3000 Wagner PMC fighters have arrived in Armenia and are plotting to topple the government together with local supporters.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, speaking at a press briefing, said that the reports are fake news.

“Where are they, if there’s talk of so many people? This isn’t a country with a billion population. The population of this country isn’t that large. If they were to see those people they would perhaps notice them. All of this is again from the category of myths. I can label this as a fake,” Zakharova said.
