No final agreement on specific map for delimitation, says FM

YEREVAN, JUNE 5, ARMENPRESS. There is no final agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan on which specific map will be used for border delimitation, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said Monday.

He said that the 1975 map would be an acceptable solution for Armenia.

“There’s no final agreement as to which maps should be used for delimitation work,” Mirzoyan told lawmakers during a joint committee meeting on the 2022 budget report. “But there’s commitment to implement this work in line with the Alma-Ata Declaration. An agreement was reached on this in Prague on 6 October in 2022, but there’s no agreement by which map,” he said.

Mirzoyan added that as far as he knows the Azerbaijani President didn't object to the 1975 map during the latest summit in Chisinau.

“We are talking about the map around which there is an understanding and readiness to continue the work by the entire international community and Armenia. We believe that recognizing each other’s territorial integrity by the 1975 map and starting the negotiations on that basis would be an acceptable solution for the Republic of Armenia. But there is no final agreement on a specific map,” the foreign minister added.
